The title story of this small collection of short stories 'No Mercy', is an introduction to Wendy Cartmell's detective Sgt Major Crane of the Special Investigations Branch in the British Army. After writing this story she went on to pen the full length novels Steps to Heaven and 40 Days 40 Nights. There are four mystery stories, all with a twist in the tail, and one humorous autobiographical piece, **** Wanted to be a Policeman. A good introduction to her work.
